Even in the middle of the century city ( the town’s name was Tiflis thereat) was well known both in the east and in the west. Georgia became a shopping mall. The roads to the south to Arabic countries, to the north to Russia, to the west to Byzantium, to the east to India were going through it. Especial heyday of Tbilisi was observing in the middle of the century. At this time it was famous as well as a town of unique poets such as genius Shota Rustaveli and many others.

Tolstoy, “Makar Chudra” of M.Gorky and a lot more. And this is quite understandable since the town harmonized to poetic mood. This all caused by the fact that the shape of old Tbilisi is unlike any city of the world. Combination of eccentric architecture and natural beauty gives Tbilisi a unique charm and colouring.

Currently the shape of the town harmoniously combines antiquity and modern features such as VI-VII centuries temples near the modern high-rise buildings, wide streets come in sight, gardens and parks. Majestic bridges spilled over the affluent Mtkvari.

The spirit of real Tbilisi still exists in old town. Quiet charm of bandy, sun-drenched streets of the city, house terraces twined by a vine, ancient churchies with a tiled dome, ancient monasteries ruins, georgian traditional courtyards with bizarre carved verandas.
