Description of 5 days tour “Kutaisi and Tbilisi”

Trip Route: Kutaisi and Tbilisi + Mtskheta

DAY-BY-DAY EXPERIENCES

Day 1 – Arrive to Kutaisi

Arrival and Meeting in Kutaisi airport.
Transfer to the hotel. Check in.
Overnight in Kutaisi.

Day 2 – Kutaisi city tour

Breakfast in the hotel. We are starting our trip with Kutaisi city tour:

• First Stop in Holy Virgin Gelati Monastery built by David IV the Builder in 1106 and become his burial vault. Monastery is a world cultural heritage since 1994.
• Furthermore comes Motsameta monastery (Monastery of St. David and Konstantin) – one of the famous sight not only Kutaisi but the whole Georgia. Monastery was constructed on mountain, where Georgian dukes David and Konstantin Mkheidze who refused to accept the Islam were executed by Muslim invaders. Magnificent temple and monastery “Motsameta” was founded here in XI century, which means “martyrs” in honor of princes David and Konstantine who are ranked as saints of Georgia Church.
• Then follows Bagrat Temple built in the reign of Bagrat III, as a main temple of united Georgian Kingdom and consecrated in honor of Assumption of Virgin in 1003.
• Prometheus Cave – neon lit Georgian cave claims to hold the boulder Prometheus was chained to.

Way back to Kutaisi. Overnight in the hotel in Kutaisi.

Day 3 – Tbilisi and Mtskheta city tour

Breakfast in the hotel. We are heading off to Tbilisi early in the morning. Walking in narrow old Tbilisi streets, visiting Narikala fortress – IV century complex of old Tbilisi, Metekhi church with panoramic views of old city; Sioni Cathedral – main Tbilisi temple; will visit Meidan square, Shardeni Street, Freedom Square, Shota Rustaveli Avenue.

Furthermore moving to Mtskheta; In Mtskheta we will visit one of main Georgian orthodox temple – Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, built on site where the first Christian church of Twelve Apostle was founded in XI century. Then stop on the top of mountain, at confluence of Aragvi and Mtkvari, where is one of magnificent Georgian architecture monument – Jvari Monastery (translated as a cross).
Way back to Kutaisi. Overnight in the hotel in Kutaisi.

Day 4 – Free day

Breakfast in the hotel. Free day.
Overnight in the hotel in Kutaisi.

Day 5 – Departure from Kutaisi

Breakfast in the hotel.
Check out. Transfer to the airport.
