Trip Route: Kutaisi – Vardzia – Akhalkalaki – Tskaltubo – Martvili
DAY-BY-DAY EXPERIENCES
Day 1 – Arrive in Kutaisi
Arrival and Meeting in Kutaisi airport.
Transfer to the hotel. Check in.
Overnight in Kutaisi.
Day 2 – Trip to Vardzia and Rabati Fortress
Breakfast in the hotel. Weekends in Kutaisi starts from visiting the main sight of Georgia – cave complex of Vardzia.
- Cave city Vardzia – it was an invisible fortress and a refuge from the constant raids of barbarians, suffers from earthquakes many times and from invaders – the Persians and the Turks. Dozen churches, libraries, bath-house, sewage system and longish gismol were constructed in cave town in ancient times. The caves are deepening in the rock, in height count eight stages.
- Next stop is Rabati Fortress – an ancient stone fortress is a cultural part of the city of Akhaltsikhe. The city was founded in IX century AD and initially consists of three parts: residential area, fortress and citadel. Fortress was surrounded by three strong walls and was connected to local areas by tunnels. Palace, tower, internal patios with pools and fountains, enfilade, small garden-labyrinth are located within city wall.

Day 3 – Trip to canyons
Breakfast in the hotel.
Weekends in Kutaisi lasts and today we have amusement day so we are gradually heading off to Okatse canyon. Waterfall was considered to be inaccessible place not so long ago and only a few tourists were able to visit the most beautiful sight of Khoni region. Wild, intact nature surrounds National park, canyon and waterfall. Canyon’s length is 16km, depth approximately 50m. 1km long 140m high strained bridge is overhang over canyon. Sightseeing platform located at the end of bridge. Get ready to pen portrait since from a bird’s eye view opens stipend view on mountains, river and surroundings.
Furthermore moving and surveying one more sight – Prometheus Cave, where young man who stole fire from Gods, was chained. 11m length cave and the temperature is approximate 140. Formation from stalactite and stalagmite are illuminated in the cave for this reason it is possible to distinguish fancy animals.
Way back to Kutaisi. Overnight in Kutaisi.
Day 4 – Freeday
Breakfast in the hotel. Free day.
Overnight in the hotel in Kutaisi.
Day 5 – Departure to Kutaisi airport
Breakfast in the hotel.
Check out. Transfer to the airport.
