The antique colonnade on seaside Boulevard, built in 1934 on the Black Sea coast, symbolized the entrance to the embankment.
The idea of their creation belongs to the Batumi doctor Ivane Mchedlidze. He brought the project from the Italian city Sorrento. There he was on his working trip in 1933-1934.
Subsequently, the project was implemented under the leadership of the famous Batumi architect Bogdan Kirakosyan. During construction, the shoreline was much closer, so they harmoniously blended into the seascape.
The colonnades are one of the business cards of Batumi. Similar colonnades were also built at the entrance to the park on 6th of May.
