Ozurgeti Museum of local Lore started functioning since 1936. The Museum houses important local History Museum Ozurgetiarcheological artifacts, including stone tools of the Neolithic era, samples of Colchis culture of the early, middle and late bronze age, such as Colchis axes, segments of hoes, rare specimens of bronze plastics, gold and silver products of the ancient era, etc.
In the Museum you can also find numismatic collection: Colchis tetri (VI-III BC), gold stater of Alexander the great, coins minted on behalf of George III, Queen Tamar, etc.; silver European coins, called “Treasure of Ozurgeti hills”; collection of weapons, including the sword of Napoleon Bonaparte; ethnographic material; samples of heraldry. In addition, here you can find ancient printed books, paintings of the XX century.
