Trip to Mtirala National Park
Today we invite you to visit the natural park of Mtirala. Park is located at 1,761 meters above sea level and occupies 6,000 hectares. The name of the park is translated as “crying” – due to frequent rains and a damp climate. Mtirala is the pride of Adjara. It is not just a park, but an amazing place in which a tremendous variety of flora and fauna is represented. Here grow ancient Kolkhid’s plants, you can meet wild animals, and in the river Namtsvavistskali, which runs through the mountain slope, there are rare species of fish. The park is called “Georgian jungle” due its impassable paths, waterfalls and clean mountain air.
We begin the route from the gorge of the Chakvistskali River, walk along the paths and mountain serpentine, through the Kolkhida, chestnut and larch forests, as well as boxwood groves. Then we’ll visit the alpine apiary, than we will rise up to the waterfall and the mountain lake, swim in the crystal clear water and have a picnic at the local restaurant. You can ride horses near the stopping point in the case of pre-reservation. No doubt, a trip to the Mtirala National Park for nature lovers will leave an indelible impression.
